Louise: “My dad wrote a short poem called “Lonesome Road”, which intrigued me but I never thought to ask him about it until it was too late. That mystery haunted me over the years, so I wrote a song about it to try to resolve it. In writing the song, that internal mystery became something external which could be seen and named and I now know what the poem means for me, but it will always frustrate me that I can’t ask my dad what it meant for him. The track was recorded without a beat, to express the untethered state of being that it describes, and I am very grateful to Vitaliy and Ben for embracing the challenge of recording it this way. I would like to dedicate the song to my dad, and to anyone else who has looked back at the darkening fair.”

“Lonesome Road” by Bill McCorkindale was published in “The Mirror And The Maze”, a collection of his poems printed in 1979 by Rainbow Books, Aberdeen
